With the new constitution in place the United States was newly United and fragile. We are seeing in the documents presented, a segregated nation. A particular decision that Divided are newly-established nation was the use of slavery. With the different views from the North and the South regions of the United States our country was falling apart. We were experiencing new growing dilemmas that possibly Changed History for both the better and the worse.
One of the largest reasons that was behind the beginning of the Civil War was the expansion of the Louisiana Territory. As well as states that were won from the Mexican War. The problem was the decision of how they were going to be admitted into the Union. The main question was if they were going to be accepted as a slave state or a free state. The Missouri Compromise was passed in 1820 admitting Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state. Furthermore, with the exception of Missouri, this law prohibited slavery in the Louisiana Territory north of the 36° 30´ latitude line.
