Indeed, the writer uses symbolism in the story to show how life is too short, and individuals should enjoy it to the fullest. The author proclaims that human being should grab the opportunity when it comes to them. For example, in the fourth paragraph, Wolf employs the “window-pane” (129) to represent a barrier that restricts people to achieve their wish. In addition, the moth “tries to fly across” (129) the window but “he fails” (Ibid). Woolf point is that human struggle to reach so many things, but there is an invisible window in front. They choose to open it or close it to attain their ultimate goals. Overall, people give up when a calamity strikes on them without considering restarting again which lead them to have regrets because they did not try at least. Also, the writer reminds the readers that the insect has a deep meaning to humans.
