Ageing is often looked at as a time for retirement

Ageing is often looked at as a time for retirement, reflection, rest and a chance to do the things you were unable to do during the younger years due to responsibilities and commitments. Although this is not always the case. Old age is often associated with loneliness, deteriorating physical and mental health and losses including material loss, physical loss, and loss of family and friends. The feelings that these issues may produce can lead to the elderly person having negative thoughts and emotions about what is happening and what is about to come. This could lead to them experiencing anxiety, low self esteem and sadness which in turn could lead to the buffering depression therefore needing to access counselling services.
